Q. I've never done this. How does it work?
A. Battlefield Houston does laser tag differently. We don't do score sheets in a black-light smoke filled room. We play tactical mission-based games that has objectives that each TEAM must achieve. Games that are very similar to Call of Duty™ and other first player games, except the players have to get off the couch and get into the game.
Q. What do I wear?
A. We don't use black-light on the battlefield so white shirts and light colors do not glow in the dark. But we generally recommend darker colors to help you hide in the shadows if that matches your game style. For shoes, we prefer closed-toe shoes, but it isn't required. There is a lot of movement up and down the stairs and a lot of crawling can happen. Open-back shoes can come off easily, which can cause you to have to keep fussing with your shoes rather than enjoying the game. However, all we ask is that you do wear shoes to protect your toes and feet from injury. Boots are ok, but keep in mind you want comfort as you move around.
Q. Our school or function is doing a fundraiser and would like your donation.
A. As you might imagine, we get several requests a week for similar donations and just can't simply support them all. We can create a program that will enable you to get a percentage of sales on particular nights to help as a fundraising project. Give us a call at (713) 409-1990 to work on the details. Early promotion greatly helps with these types of events.
Q. How does the deposit work?
A. The deposit for a birthday or corporate event is generally around 30% of the total reservation and is non-refundable. We understand changes happen and will work with you on those changes. There isn't a charge to change the date or time if it is available for the move. We can issue you a gift card if you need to cancel your event and reschedule. For walk-in/open-play reservations, our deposit is 100%. You are basically pre-purchasing your ticket. These are non-refundable, but can be applied to a future time slot.
Q. Is the age limit really 8?
A. Yes, our age group is 8 and above. To help determine age, we also require 47" and above for height. Our age limit is based on player safety and enjoyment of the game.
Q. What time should we show up?
A. You must arrive 30 minutes before your actual play time. If you reserved online (or over the phone), the arrival time is already built in with a 30-min buffer to allow for check-in/training so arrive at your reserved time. For example, if you reserved for 2PM, arrive at 2PM, training at 2:15pm and game time will start at 2:30pm. Waivers are required for ALL players completed electronically. Paper waivers will not work so please arrive early enough to complete the waiver either online or on our kiosks as you enter. The waivers are good for one year so you shouldn't have to do it again for a while. You can buy your games in 30 minute, 60 minute, 90 minute or 120 minute increments and you stay on the battlefield for that whole time. Other players may be leaving and joining as the games progress.
Q. Can I just walk in and play?
A. Yes, you can just walk in and play. You don't need a large group and you don't have to have a reservation. We call this "Open Play" and you can make a reservation online if you choose, but it isn't required. We can play over 50 people on the battlefield at a time, and our games start every 30 minutes. If you arrive when the battlefield is full, the wait is usually no longer than 45 minutes. Fridays and Saturdays are our busiest days, but don't let that discourage you. Usually 1 or 2 people can get in a game. Larger groups can get tough without a reservation.
Q. Do I need a reservation?
A. We do have times where we are full to capacity. Having a reservation on the weekends, especially with larger groups of 8 or more will guarantee your time slot. However, we know that it is hard to make a reservation with a deposit when everyone is paying for themselves. Your welcome to come in and pre-purchase a later ticket and then go grab a bite to eat. Just remember that you have to be back in time for training.
Q. Do I need to go through training? I've played laser tag before or I've played there before.
A. Yes, unless you have a Membership, you have to go through training each time before you play. If you have played laser tag at some other location, we are different style of play and training is very different. Training starts 15 minutes before your actual game time is scheduled to start.
Q. Do you accept checks?
A. We accept credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express) and cash. Checks are not accepted.
Q. Is there something to do while I wait for my game time to start?
A. We have a game room of competitive video games such as air hockey, basketball, car racing and more. We also have great neighbors such as New York Pizzeria, Joe's Mesquite Grill, and Solo's Cantina.
Q. I am so excited about this business and want to invest or buy this place. How do I do that?
